DIY Pillar Candle Holders
If you're like me you love candles and you always have them around. Candle light brings a glow to a room that is cozy & inviting. One of the ways I love to display my candles is on a Pillar Candle Holder. They come in all shapes & sizes and are made out of so many different mediums.
If you've been following my projects for a while, you know I like to decorate on a budget and try to make pieces whenever I can. I had an idea in my head of what I would like and decided to try creating it instead of buying.
This is a simple DIY that anyone can do with NO POWER TOOLS!
Material List:
- Wooden Circle Plaques (assorted sizes)
- Wooden Leg (assorted sizes & shapes)
- Wood Glue
- Clamps (optional)
- Paint or Stain
- Paint Brush
- Caulk (optional)
Take all your pillar candle elements and start playing with what you like and what you want your pillar candles to look like. I'm using some bun feet and circle plaques. Both can be found on Amazon or your local craft store and home improvement store.
OR if you want you could make your own bases from wood you have at home if you want to use power tools and create something really unique. The possibilities are endless.
I'm going to add two different sizes to the base of one of the pillar candles. So, I used clear wood glue to attach them.
NOTE- You could use screws to hold them together but I decided to do this project with no power tools.
You can use clamps to hold the glued pieces together.
Or you can use heavy objects on top of two glued pieces.
Just add glue and press together. YES...it's that simple! I took a few minutes to make sure my bun foot was centered on the round base.
My specific glue says to clamp or press together for 2 hours and fully cured in 24 hours. I left my candles with heavy objects on them overnight.
The next day my pillars were completely dry and ready for finishing. I decided to caulk were all the pieces are glued together. I felt like it would give it a more seamless and turned wood look. This step is completely optional.
Ready for paint!
NOTE- You can paint or stain your pieces. I'm using unused bun feet from a past DIY project. They were already painted so I am going to paint these candle holders.
Think outside the box...search for old chair, table or sofa legs, turned wood pieces at estate sales, garage sales, antique shops, thrift stores. Look for anything you think would make a unique pillar candle holder.
Once finished and dry it's time to style them! I think these pillar candle holders turned out great!
They can hold multiple sizes of candles and decor items. I spent $20 (always shop the sales if you can) and made a nice pair of pillar candle holders.
