Can I tell you a secret? They are super simple to create. First is the fun part. You have to hunt for supplies. Do you have your grandmother's old shakers? Do you collect something special? Want to decorate for an upcoming holiday? Don't have any? Even better, you get to go hunting! You can find shakers of any kind...vintage, animals, states, china, any shape, color or size can work. It's all a matter of preference.
Next gather assorted yarn, twine and ribbon. You want to get a good variety of textures, thickness and color. Draw from the colors in the shaker you choose and tie it into the colors of the space you will be displaying your creation. You will also need assorted beads. Again - different size, shapes, color and textures are needed.
Once you choose your yarn you will wrap it around a small length of cardboard. Secure one end with a length of wire long enough to run through the salt shaker and some beads. Next wrap your ribbon back and forth to create the "bow" part.
Run the wire through the bow and then up through the shaker. Layer on beads. Loop wire and secure together. Add a small ribbon hanger and decorate! Here is a cute little animal to hang from doorknobs, lamps or fan pulls...
Wait till you see the upcycle I did with these feathers and a grocery sack...so beautiful for your home! AND EASY,,,DIY here!
I'd love to upcycle with you, follow along at Facebook for the latest updates and so we can chat!
