DIY Stencils With Simple Supplies!

Oh my word! It has been a long time since I've been over here at HT sharing projects. I had a baby less than three weeks ago ...which is still totally crazy to me! So things on the project front have slowed down considerably. HOWEVER, I have managed to gather enough photos and such to do some simple organizing crafts like this one I'm sharing today - how to make a simple freezer paper stencil.
Seriously. So easy. First things first, grab some Freezer Paper at the dollar store or big box store. It'll cost you a few dollars. Using a cutting machine or a trace-and-cut-out method, cut a graphic or phrase out of your Freezer Paper. Make sure the shiny side of the paper is the BACK part. I'd also suggest keeping your design simple to make cutting easier. I did words.
Then gather your paint, fabric (in my case burlap), a sponge paint brush and a hot iron. Place your freezer paper onto your fabric and then run over it with the hot iron. Do it slowly and don't go back and forth. Lift the iron and place it down over and over to avoid creasing your paper.
Now your paper will be 'stuck' to your fabric and you can use your paint brush to fill your stencil! Easy peasy. Pull the freezer paper away when the paint is still wet.
And there you go :) I've been using these bins to catch household mail and invoices as they come in... Because I haven't really been in the mood to deal with paperwork since the baby arrived. Hope you like this post! Please check out my blog for more projects and details xoxo

First of all, CONGRATS! This is a very creative idea. I have used freezer paper as a backing for fabric to run through my printer. Never thought of using it for stencils. This is a SAVE!

You can also use old xrays for stenciling too!
