DIY Tinted Canning Jars

I was wishing for a vintage blue canning jar recently but instead of buying one decided to see how tinting one of my plain glass jars would work. I've been kind of curious about doing this for some time now and finally gave it a whirl for myself.
I opted to try a method that used glazing medium which you then tint with liquid food coloring.
I also decided to use a method that puts the medium on the outside of the jar because I wanted to be able to use my tinted jar as a flower vase. If the color was on the outside, my hope was I could then have water inside the jar with my flowers with no worries of the tint washing off.
When the glazing medium is first on your jars, it will look opaque, but it does dry up clear. You have to move the jars every so often and wipe the bottoms a little bit too while they're drying as the medium drips down the side.
I was pretty happy with my final result and it made a nice country style flower vase too. You could also make these in a variety of colors if you're feeling ambitious. You can get the complete instructions and details on my blog using the link below.
