DIY Turn Glass Into Mirror

Imagine if you could turn plain glass into a shiny mirror finish? Well you can, and it’s so easy. In literally minutes I transformed an old glass bowl into a pretty mirror bowl. Let me show you how.

I started with a plain glass bowl that somebody left at my house two years ago.  Sorry – if you haven’t asked for it back, it’s mine now.

You can use any glass object.

I taped the outside of the bowl, so the spray paint was only on the inside.

I bought Rust-oleum Mirror Effect spray from the hardware store.  I laid a drop cloth outside, made sure I gave the can a good shake and then sprayed the inside of the glass bowl.  Here’s a quick video

Tips – I gave the bowl 3-4 coats of spray paint.  After the first coat I wore disposable gloves to stop the spray getting all over my hands.  You need to spray the reverse side of the glass – the inside of the bowl has a duller finish to the outside of the bowl.  I also gave the inside of the bowl a coat of clear spray just to protect the surface from scratches.

Here's the finished bowl. To see more of this project, please visit the DIY Decorator blog.

Can you do this to something other than glass (i.e., a ceramic rabbit, etc.)? Will it look mirrored?
