In this tutorial, we will review how you can create the look of a wall mounted sconce without the need for any hard-wiring. No wires, no electrician needed. This is a great option for decorative lighting above shelving or artwork. Or, anywhere!

Mount Your Light Fixture

Mount your light fixture on the wall per the directions specific to your chosen fixture. Just ignore the wires completely.

Outlet Socket Adapter

Next, screw the outlet socket adapter into the fixture where you would normally screw in a light bulb.

Puck Lights

Put batteries into the puck lights and replace the back plate. Adhere the double-sided sticker that comes with with puck lights to the back cover of the light.

Connect the Puck Lights

Stick the puck lights to the outlet adapters in the light. Some of these puck lights come with a remote to make it easy for you to control the lights from anywhere nearby. Otherwise, you'll click the light with your hand to turn on and off.

Enjoy!

Now you have sconces on the wall without the need for an electrician! These puck lights vary in strength so get a high powered one if you want more light.

This trick works especially well for lights over a piece of art or even over a shelf in the kitchen or living room.

although I despise the use of batteries I absolutely love this idea! I’m wondering how to hook it up with a solar light. I live in Texas so there’s no real shortage of sunlight

Looking forward to trying this in our small cabin. Light switches are almost completely obsolete as this was built in the 1940’s. All lights have pull strings instead. Thank you for sharing!
