DIY Watercolor Feathers

Have you seen the macramé feathers that have taken over? They are beautiful, so I can definitely see why. I hit the jackpot at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago with a major sale on yarn and found the perfect way to use some of the watercolor yarn I purchased, by turning them into these watercolor feathers. They are so easy to make and this would be a great beginner craft!

Pick out your yarn... any yarn works for this, but I love how the watercolor hues look. This yarn is from Yarn Bee.

Decide how long you want your feather and cut a piece of yarn twice the length.

Fold your yarn in half and tie knots on both ends.

Cut small sections of yarn for the next step.

Take one piece of yarn and tie around the longer piece. Make sure the knot is nice and tight and pushed all the way down.

Continue tying yarn on until the longer piece is full.

Using sharp scissors, cut the yarn into the shape of a feather.

Using your fingers, spread and fluff the yarn a little bit.

Aren't these pretty? There are so many ways to use these also... You can add them to a bag as an accessory.

Add them to a wreath or hang on a hook basket in your house.

Tie two on a piece of yarn and use as curtain ties.

You can even use them for place settings or party favors. These would also make a great gift for a friend or family member!
