DIY Wood Grain Painting

6 Materials
I wanted a large scale piece of art without the price tag. I decided to grab a large piece of wood and paint along the grain for a colorful statement piece.
Piece of 4'x4' birch 1/4" thick via Lowes
I applied a thin layer of oil just to deepen the tone slightly.
I painted along the grain line
More painting! Sections took 2-3 coats.
We drilled a hole in each corner.
We hung it from wall studs using large bolts and a hex nut between the board and the wall for a little 3-D pop.
The finished product hanging in our eat in kitchen.

Did you seal the final painting with anything - like maybe water-based polyurethane in a matte finish?
