Make a DIY Wooden Blanket Ladder with 1×3 furring strips with this step-by-step tutorial all for around $4 and under 30 minutes of time! This blanket ladder is the perfect beginners woodworking project!
I have been totally envying all of the blanket ladders I’ve been seeing for some time now – and I’ve totally had plans to build for for forever now! Since the winter weather is quickly moving out here in North Carolina I had an urge to get building! One of my first projects to tackle was the wooden blanket ladder, and I love it!!! The wood for the whole project cost me $4.00 and I even have leftover scrap wood! … which you can use to build my favorite project, my DIY Barn Door for Under $10 and 30 Minutes!
Lets Make It Together In Just 5 Easy Steps!
  1. Measure
  2. Cut your wood
  3. Sand
  4. Apply wood glue
  5. Assemble and nail in place

My Cut Sizes:
2 @ 6 feet long
4 @ 18 inches long

-I then spaced my rungs 12′ from each other starting 6′ from the top of the sides
You can choose to leave your wood unfinished or stain or paint it. I used  Minwax Early American stain – it’s my favorite stain color…we even did our wood floors in our whole downstairs this color! I apply the stain usually with one coat and use rubber gloves and an old rag.
Isn't it gorgeous?
I added two nails on the top rung and added a wire basket I bought at Dollar General and added my favorite fake plants from Idea! I totally love the look of the ladder with basket!
