After getting a tiny dog (Joy, a Yorkie)
she needs clothes!
Being thrifty, I made my own after seeing something I thought was a sweater sleeve and it was!
Measure your dog, collar to tail.
Using the cuff as a collar measure out your length neck to tail and add a few inches for mistakes or hemming.
Make sure it's the right length.
I used a permanent marker to mark my cuts.
I used my fingers to measure the distance between Joys legs. It was 3 fingers wide.
That was easier than getting her to stay still for the measuring tape.
I then marked the legs making it the letter Capitol I (not shown as I thought about that after I cut.)
Making a small slice ontop of each leg opening made it so I could hem without making the opening larger.
Also, cut out where the belly is for going potty.
Letter I cuts.
Flip it over after cutting the "bottom" and find where the collar or harness needs to attach the leash.
Make a small capilol i and hem back to neaten it up.
Try it on.
Fold the collar over. Embellish with bows or whatever.
We don't embellish because Lil Miss Joy has sharp teeth that don't like embezzlement.
If you have a large dog, you can use the body of the sweater. Just cut the arms off and hem to fit.
Long t-shirt sleeves work too.
This is the first one I made. Christmas red and Joy loves this one.
