Dollar Store DIY Decor: Block Ties Candle Holder

Who would have thought a pack of hair ties could make a votive candle holder so hip and modern?!

This little candle holder DIY is so simple to make, only takes a few minutes, and you can crank out a whole slew of these hip, modern-looking things in no time flat!

All you need are a few inexpensive supplies, all of which came from the dollar store:

glass votive holder

package of wood craft cubes

superglue

package of elastic hair ties

What's extra cool about this is that it's totally customizable too. Lay the cubes out however you'd like, create different layouts with the hair ties, what have you.

Here I started out by figuring how many cubes I needed to support the base of the votive holder.

I made two 4 x 4 squares with the cubes.

While I used superglue, you can use whatever glue works best for you so long as they hold these elements together.

A few dabs of superglue and the squares of cubes are stacked.

Feel free to paint or stain the cubes too!

Next, slip the hair ties onto the votive holder.

Lastly, glue the glass to the wood cube base and voila, modern-looking votive holder on the cheap!
