Dollar Store Vase Hack
I needed some fall inspired decor for
my furniture dresser flip! Check that post out in my profile these didn’t exactly turn out as I thought they were going to, but they’re adorable to say the least.
I got these for 3$ And 2.5$ a piece from dollarama.
I used black indoor/outdoor flat matte spray paint.
This was when all the black spray paint was completed. And honestly if I was to use them for my house, this would satisfy me at this stage! Just the black! But you know me, I have to add more LOL
Here’s where I went wrong, I bought a matte top coat To give it extra durability, that was a bad choice, for some reason once I added the top coat it bubbles some of the paint. So I had to redo parts. And honestly if you buy quality black spray paint, you wouldn’t even need top coat.
So once I had the debacle with the spray top coat, I used dixiebelle paint’s gator hide top coat over top the gold sparkles. I used a paint brush.
Cheap cheap cheap! Go try it out. So many versatile ways to do this.

If you are using spray paint outside, stay out of the sun. That will make your paint bubble because the glass gets too warm.

I had the same thing happen with matte top coat over some yellow matte spray paint. I had to sand it back and when I used satin top coat it didn't happen. I don't know if it was the paint/top coat combination, the level of dryness of the base colour or the temperature and or sunlight.

Hi Ally, WELL DONE!! I especially like the medium squat shaped pot. I like the idea of the glitter against the matte black of the paint, and your use of it was just right. I am wondering why when you sprayed the matte sealer it bubbled the black paint. Do you really think it was the cheaper paint? Wondering if it was the ingredients. I went over your tutorial and looked for a link to your blog and the video you posted did not show or give instructions on what you used to apply the glitter. I am thinking a spray adhesive but then no control. I am going to try and find your blog to see if it has additional info. Thank you for sharing.
