Don't Ditch Your Decor Pieces
We've all been there before, whether our decor style is changing, or we're just losing love for a certain piece of decor. Before you ditch it, try giving it a makeover. Most of the time, you'll fall in love with it all over again.
Best spray paint
That's the case with this oversized vase. I bought it because I loved how massive it is, and I just wasn't in love with it anymore. It reminded me of a large fish bowl. This vase is pretty big, 12" high. I knew I could give it a simple DIY, and love it again.
This here is my secret weapon. I've spray painted so many things, and it has transformed alpt of decor accents in my home. You could use any colour for this. I looked for the textured spray, but it's been soooo hard to find, so, I used what I already had on hand. . .. again!
Then, cover your area with whatever you have, plastic bags, drop cloths, or newspaper. I've even put things inside cardboard boxes 📦
The trick to a good spray paint, is shaking the can really well, and spray from 5" back, to avoid blotching and dripping. Watch the video below as I did this. I did a few coats because the glass is transparent, I could see any small patch that wasn't sprayed evenly. Allow it to dry completely in-between coats. And don't forget to wear a mask, and do this in a well ventilated area.
You can see what a difference spray painting made. This vase went from looking like a big fish bowl, to a Crate and Barrel knock off. See pic below for my inspiration for this little makeover.
You don't have to spend the above price ($279) when you think outside the box, and repurpose what you already have at home. Giving your decor a new look is not only cost efficient, but repurposes too.
This definitely made me love this piece more. Spray Paint for the win 🏆
