My rental, like most, houses standard, unimpressive light fixtures. With permission from my landlord, I gave my hallway ceiling light a boost with some spray paint and a new glass shade. The schoolhouse replacement shade was $5 at Lowes and has a much more appealing shape than the standard globe shade. I added more interest to it, I drew a line around the circumference using a Sharpie paint pen and a rubberband. By spray painting the existing base, the light fixture looks brand new!
This DIY ceiling fixture is an easy and inexpensive way to add interest to any standard ceiling fixture.
A standard globe ceiling fixture was doing nothing for our small hallway, which can be seen from our living room.
Adding a stripe detail around the glass shade was super easy with a rubberband and a Sharpie pen.
Much better, don't you think?
