Easy Circle Artwork

I just bought a new house. It's an old, beautiful but huge home. I definitely needed more decor for it. I was shopping at one of my favorite stores and really liked a two piece artwork. But it was $100! Even on sale and coupons I couldn't justify spending that on something that seemed so simple. Thus I started my own.....
I ended up with smaller canvas only because I got a really good deal on it. I decided to do four( which after hanging I think that I need two more)
I went to dollar tree and bought two types of plastic shot glasses. The colored ones have a nice size bottom to them and the red have the perfect size top.
I also grabbed cheap paper plates so that clean up is just a matter of throwing out the plates. I bought the craft paint in the colors I wanted. I first started with a "Warm White" and covered all the canvas. It's not a huge difference but to me looks more finished. I also made one of the colors metallic to add a bit of shimmer to it.
I just dip the shot glass in the paint and put on the canvas. I just eyeballed everything and did my best to keep straight. But the beautiful thing to this is it doesn't have to be perfect, as it just adds character to it. If you don't get the circle completely covered by paint, that's fine or you can take a small paintbrush and fill in with the paint already in the circle. Also, in the original the paint was thick in some places, so don't worry if you have uneven paint within the circle or a lot, as it is supposed to be that way.
I did row by row to each of the canvas and let dry over night.
The next day I took the red plastic shot glasses and this time used the tops. I wanted to just have the ring, not the filled in circles. You can do anyway you want. I stopped looking at the original some time ago lol.
Allow to dry and hang up. I didn't do anything for framing as the original didn't have theirs framed either. I love how it looks against the midnight blue walls in my dining room. Plus really brought all the colors together very nice.

Very classy! Looks like you spent more than the cost of the original artwork you wanted. I may have missed it in your explanation, but I thought I would clarify anyway. Do you use the bottoms of the multicolored cups to get the solid circles and the tops of the red ones for the ring shapes?

I don't understand the purpose of buying the shot glasses or what difference color made. We're you just after layering the round shapes? Thanks

This might sound a bit odd, but it reminds me of those dots we filled out on SAT'z tests we took in school, told you it was odd,,it's a really cool idea and turned out better than that original :)
