Easy DIY Repurposed Coastal Decor

I’ve completed the finishing touches for my coastal guest room makeover and I want to show you just how simple a few DIY projects can be to add the coastal look. These projects are all quick, easy and best of all, inexpensive!
I wanted to keep the cost for this room makeover within a small budget I set. The best way to do that was to look through my craft stash and around my house for items that I could repurpose into coastal decor. A little paint goes a long way in giving old items a new look.
I started with a plain trinket box that at some point I had painted white. After I painted it, I didn’t finish whatever project I had in mind for it. I gave it a coat of the paint mixture that I’ve been using for lots of projects in this room. I hot glued a simple shell to the top of the box.
This jar was a Christmas gift with candy inside. Once the candy was gone of course, I put it into my craft stash. I used hot glue to wrap some twine near the top. I filled it up with raffia, colorful gems and shells and tied a small bow around the front. I added some greenery that I purchased for 50% off at Michaels.
I’ve had this corner shelf for years. I gave it a fresh coat of white paint and slightly distressed it. I added some coastal baubles and a small jar filled with sand and tiny shells.
This shelf is also one I’ve had for years. I painted it white and went through my stash of shells and placed them on the shelf. How quick and easy!
One of the last projects I created for the room is this painting. I used an old canvas and began by painting it a solid color. I continued adding different shades of blue, green and white until it had the feel of an ocean view. This was the most time consuming of these projects, but it didn’t take much more than an hour, allowing for drying between coats.
Repurposing old items is the best way to get the look you want and keep the cost low. Whatever style you want, I bet you’ll find items around you house just waiting for their makeovers! A little paint and your imagination is all it takes!
