Instead of buying a cheap frame for my son's Pokemon posters, I decided to make my own! This is a really simple project that makes those posters pop!
My posters were both 34" x 22 1/4", and I subtracted 1" from each number so the poster would overlap the back of the frame for stapling. I used 1x2 boards, so I added 1 1/2" to the longer boards to cover the ends of the shorter ones.
Cut two short pieces and two long pieces for each frame.
I used a countersink bit to predrill holes at the ends of each long piece.
Assemble the frame, making sure that the corners are square.
I used wood filler to hide the screws. After sanding the wood filler smooth, give each frame a few coats of paint.
When the paint is dry, flip the frame over and place the poster across the back. Use tape to hold it in place and make sure it's straight. Then staple the poster to the back of the frame with 1/4" staples.
Attach a sawtooth hanger to the top of the back, and hang it on the wall with a nail.
These bright posters bring a fun pop of color to my son's room. I'm so glad they're finally out of their cardboard tubes and up on the wall!
