Today I'm sharing a fun and easy project updating thrift store or dollar store vases into a faux hobnail milk glass look. I'm showing two different versions and both are equally pretty. Keep an eye out at yard sales and flea markets for vases that you can update. Here is what I used to make these.

I found detailed glass vases at the thrift store that were perfect with several light coats of white paint. The smaller bud vases are shown in the mantel display as well. These were 50 cents a piece! You can’t beat that.

I simply gave each vase a couple of coats of white paint, being careful to avoid streaking. The paint adhered really well and only two coats were needed.

Look how pretty the larger vase looks with flowers. It blends right in with my real stuff:

Now for the faux hobnail look, I took another thrift store glass vase and added hot glue dots to the vase. Once it was dried, I used several light coats of the  Martha Stewart Milk Glass Paint. While I am happy with the outcome, it was very time consuming and took several coats. It does give a nice opaque finish though.
