Embroidery hoop wreaths are all the rage, but not being one to follow the crowd, I wanted to do something different with my thrift store treasure.

So, I combined it with another thrift store find to make a brand new vintage styled home decor accessory I adore.
I grabbed this huge hoop, for embroidery or more likely quilting, at the thrift store for $1.00 - it was half off. I knew I could do something fabulous with it and I wasn't wrong.

I love picking up items dollar items at the thrift store and making them over.... like my fabulous thrift store cutting boards...a little DIY and I had ones with the same look as the $69 Pottery Barn version.

Anyhoo...
While I was trying to come up with an idea for my hoop, I remembered these two placemats that I'd picked up a few weeks earlier. Believe it or not they're vinyl. Easy to clean, resistant to dust and sturdy.

Of course, real doilies this would work as well and look amazing. You could also use a dishtowel or pretty fabric scrap. So many options.

Get creative!
As for the how to, I literally just opened the hoop up, placed the doily on top of the hoop, put the top piece back in place and closed up the hoop!

When I was done, I had a beautiful piece of artwork that I could hang on the wall or stand up on the mantle or table. For more inspiration and display ideas, check out my site! icon
