I love a bargain, and I love iron . Here where we live estate sales happens all the time. So out I went looking for treasures.
Rusty and drab. Great curves.
This was my find sorry not a good picture but the end has a nice picture. I cleaned this up and put it on top of my kitchen cabinets. But I wasn't happy with it.
This is from the top looking down. It's a cage looking piece. I tried a wax antiquing , but I was not happy with the look. So out to the garage to look in my stash.

All I could find in my stash was min wax, yep furniture stain. I had a mahogany color and a light natural. So I grabbed the mahogany and gave it a try.
All I had to do was figure how to apply the stain. I am a leather crafter so go get a couple daubers. I was amazed at how well it went on and how pretty it was turning out.
Really a pretty piece now.
Because it turned out so pretty I gave it a place in the nook where you can see it as you walk into the kitchen.
Suggested materials:
  • Min wax mahogany color furniture stain   (Any Lowe's or hardware store.)
  • Rusty iron cage.   (Estate sale)
