Easy & Sweet Burlap Pumpkin Pillow

Dave and I really enjoyed our patriotic burlap porch decorations during the summer, so when we found colored burlap in orange, I just knew what to make with it - a pumpkin pillow for our fall porch!
This sweet pumpkin pillow is so easy - just a matter of sewing and stuffing a square and then using a basic running stitch (and a template!) to outline a pumpkin. I think it adds the perfect touch - along with potted mums - to our outdoor decor.
Here's how to create a burlap pumpkin pillow (more steps and details can be found on our site, too): Cut three 12 inch squares of fabric, 1 for the bottom and two for the top. I used painter's dropcloth for the pillow base as a backing for the burlap top.
Sandwich with the right sides facing together (burlap in middle), pin, and sew the edges, leaving an opening to turn.
Turn the pillow right side out and stuff with fiberfill. Sew the opening closed by hand or on a sewing machine.
Pin a pumpkin template that you've drawn (or download free from our site) to the burlap side and using 1/8"-wide ribbon (I chose neon orange) and blunt needle, outline the pumpkin with a basic running stitch by weaving it over and under the threads of the burlap.
Add a few detail lines inside the pumpkin, keeping the goal to end your ribbon at the top of the pumpkin so that you can tie a bow to finish it off.
After using a green ribbon for the stem and tying everything off with a bow, the pillow is ready for it's front porch debut. Of course you know Dave gave it a standing ovation. ;)
