Farmhouse Blue Bread Box
Are you a bread box fan? If so do you use it for bread or to store other goodies you want hidden in the kitchen like vitamins, mail or for charging your electronic devices?
Here are more bread boxes I have done.
This old roll top bread box below had seen allot of wear and tear but in the end it is ready to be of service in style.
The first step as always is a deep cleaning everywhere. I like to use Simple Green cleaner with a damp cloth rinsed and repeat till everything shines.
I tested the color of choice on the roll top portion but before painting primer was painted on the edges for a layer of color under it as well as to seal all the edges.
The color of choice is serenity blue Rustoleum's Chalked ultra matte paint in spray formula. Spray many light coats on all sides for even coverage.
When it was all dry, the edges were sanded to distress to the white and wood for a rustic charm feel. I was reusing old orbital sandpaper over a sanding sponge but suggest using the sanding sponge alone for a smooth removal of the paint. The rest of the bread box was sanded smooth too.
Now to seal up the chalked spray paint using Rustoleum's chalked protective topcoat brushed on. I did 2 coats allowing to dry in between.
For the final touch I like to add new removable drawer liner to the bread boxes. This gives the box a fresh fun look inside and makes clean up a breeze.
A coat of white wax was hand rubbed over it all to to add some white in the nooks and crannies and add to the rustic farmhouse look.
