Hi friends, everyone is aging pots and striving for that "just dug out of the ground in France" look LOL!

I personally love when I can create an antique look with something brand new, and I'm sharing my process for creating an aged stone flowerpot.

You have total design control here my friend. I'm sharing what I did but please feel free to create your own look! I made one large pot and "planted" some fuschia hydrangea (faux of course) to create a stunning centerpiece.

You could do this same technique with smaller pots and different florals. Be creative and do what works with your home and decor!

To make a brand new terracotta pot look aged, we need to add some texture. I used lightweight spackling and found it easiest to just spread it on with my fingers. Some spots are chunkier than others, which really adds to the antiqued look.

The spackling took a couple days to fully dry because it was so thick in areas. Once it felt dry to the touch, I lightly sanded some areas to smooth them out a little bit.

The next step is to add some colors to all that texture. I used green, black, brown and white acrylic paints.

The trick here is to dab on paint (I started with the darker colors), and then blend it with a damp paper towel. This will give the pot a "naturally aged" look (think of a terracotta pot that has sat outside for awhile!) rather than a "brand new pot that I painted" look!

Add some faux moss with the green paint, remembering to dab and blend.

I love how this simple technique with regular craft paints can add age to a brand new pot! If any of the areas were too dark, I dabbed on some white paint onto those spots and blended them.

It looks amazing up close! Like a true antique.

The final step to this faux aged pot centerpiece was to plant it with (affiliate) faux hydrangea. I used a floral foam block that I stuck down into the pot, trimmed the flower stems and stuck them into the foam, and then covered the foam with (affiliate) spanish moss.

I love how it turned out! This was an inexpensive and easy project that is so pretty for Spring but can also be used year round! Please click through to the blog post below to see the FULL TUTORIAL as well as more of my navy and pink Spring dining room!
