Faux Flower Planter
Bring the brilliant colors of tulips indoors.
Today I have some ​​artificial tulips and I want to show you how to make a faux flower planter. These are the real touch kind that are made out of like a latex material, and they look quite real.
The first thing I did was to expose a little bit of the wire underneath the plastic at thebottom of the stem. I just ran my scissors around to cut the plastic and then removed the piece.
Next, I took a 2-inch foam and just pushed the exposed wire right through the middle of the foam ball.
Then I took a lunch bag and cut off the bottom.
I wanted to make sure it stuck to the foam ball so I first applied Mod Podge all around the outside of the ball.
With it all covered, I stuck the wire through the middle of the bag and pulled the paper upwards towards the stem until it was pretty taut.
With the bag in place, I covered it all in a thick layer of Mod Podge. I just brushed it all over and made sure it got into all the nooks and crannies. Don’t worry if there is too much paper near the top, it can be trimmed up later when everything is dry.
To allow the Mod Podge to dry completely, I used a floral foam block and pushed the wires into it.
After the Mod Podge was dry, I used a little dark antiquing wax to add a little bit of color so that they looked a little more realistic.
I also added a little bit of pale yellow paint to the tops of the faux bulbs.
Then it was time to put it all together. I grabbed a wooden crate and put a floral foam block in the bottom and poked the tulip wires right into the foam where I wanted them to sit.
Once I had the tulips arranged, I added some Spanish moss to cover up the floral foam.
I also added some green moss around the edges of the fake flower planter box.
To finish off the faux flower arrangement I added two more tulip stems to fill in the blank space and
added some real twigs.
I hope you love my faux flower planter as much as I do. It was so easy to make and is perfect with Spring just around the corner.
