Faux Metal Candle Holders
These glam-looking candle holders are made from the epitome of fakeness - plastic.
I had a collection of these big, flat blue plastic lids. I just love their simple shape.
I also have a vast collection of googly eyes, a bit of a liability if you don’t make Halloween monsters or do kids crafts. Lemme think: how to slash the stash? The answer is obvious...
Some people believe everything looks better in white chalk paint but I am the OTT aunty with leopard skin print and scarlet lips that believes everything looks better in gold. So I gave my precious plastics a coat of plastic primer followed by a coat of gold spray paint.
The eyes look like fancy hobnails with a special trim.
Small glue gun in hand, I started sticking nails. I used 8 per disk and used the same method as you would to divide a cake in 8, first in quarters and then each quarter halved. This way you needn’t measure anything. The trick is not to use too much glue and to press down well so that there is not too much space between the two surfaces.
The stands look as if they are made of metal but they still have that distinctive googly eye rattle to them. Who cares, just slap the hand that wants to pick them up - don’t they know its rude to fiddle with decor?
