Have you ever wanted to decorate with house plants, but you just do have that green thumb? Well, no need to fear, these paper plants are perfect for those of us who DO NOT have a green thumb, but want to give our space some greenery and life. Create your very own plant using items you probably already have on hand!
Start with green construction paper; fold in half and trace a leaf on it. A free-handed oval shape will work perfectly. Remember, you want to mimic a natural leaf.
Cut out the leaf shape, and do not worry about the "squared-off" shape on the bottom; you will form the paper into a more natural leaf shape later.
Paint the leaf using a mix of green and yellow paint. Let the paint dry (10 minutes). I laid my leaves out on the patio in the Texas sun to help them dry faster. After they dry, give one or two coats of Modge Podge for to seal the paint, and to serve as a glue when you fold the bottom of the leaf inward; pinch with fingers, a paper clip, or clothes pin.
Place floral foam into the flower pot, with a few beads of hot glue or tacky glue. Use the wire to create "stems" on which you will glue the leaves. Wrap the the wire in green floral tape, and place into floral foam. Cover the foam with the Spanish moss.
Use hot glue to glue the leaves to the "stems," and arrange them according to your liking. These plants are great and will not need pruning, nor water! If you plan to use this plant outside, apply two more coats of Modge Podge. I chose to use my plant as decor on the patio only during special occasions.
I hope you enjoyed this easy DIY project!
