Felt Flowers Bouquet

We are all trying to craft with items we have on hand right now. I searched through my craft stash looking for items that I could use to make a spring flowers craft.

I’m not a sewer, but I do share easy no sew craft projects that I enjoy creating. That means I usually have some left over fabric scraps. I save them in a bin and I’m always glad to find a way to craft with the pieces.

I chose some bright colored felt along with green yarn to make a fun felt flowers bouquet. I used the foam circle to hold the stems while I added the slit cut felt flowers and the bow.

• Cut a strip of felt approximately 9″ long x 2″ wide.
• Fold the felt in half lengthwise.
• Run a small bead of hot glue inside along the edge.
• Use fabric scissors to cut slits at the fold of the felt.
• Roll the felt strip as shown and hot glue the end in place.

Avoid cutting the slits too long and try to keep them evenly spaced. Once the flower has been rolled and glued, gently press on the back to shape it.

Making a stem for each flower is easy. Use wood skewers and tie a piece of yarn around it. You might need to cut the skewers depending on how tall you want the flowers to be. Wrap the skewer with the yarn until it is fully covered. Cut the yarn and glue the end in place. Use a rubber finger protector to avoid burns.

You can make as many felt flowers as you want for your bouquet. You can change the size of the flower by cutting the felt strips longer and wider, or shorter.

Glue one flower to the top of the stem. Make sure to hold it in place for about a minute until the glue is set.

To add the look of leaves, I cut a piece of green yarn and tied a bow just beneath each flower bloom.

I’ve had this aqua jar for a while and it was just the right size to hold my felt flowers bouquet. It’s filled with vase filler to hold the flowers in position.
