This project starts out with a board that I picked up years ago at a thrift shop because I was so intrigued with the carved flowers. Once home, I just never could figure out what I wanted to do with it, as it really didn’t match my décor.
When the paint only challenge was posted, , the “flower board” as I lovingly called it immediately came to mind.
So, I reached for the Country Chic paints from my “goodies” box, a few frames from my endless stash of frames (that collection might be bordering on another hoard) and went at it.
First, I took the creamy yellow color (Bees Knees) and base coated the board. I was worried that all the detail would be lost; but took the plunge anyway and was content with the result. Since two of the three frames were gold, I used a dry brush technique and added metallic gold highlights to the flowers.
Then I painted the round frame Country Chic Bliss (turquoise) and highlighted it with the metallic gold. Adding a gold picture cut from a magazine, which was just what it needed.

Finally, I added hints of the turquoise to the two gold frames.
Glued the frames to the board, added a picture hanger on the back and I am delighted to have brought new life to something that was just hanging around in my basement. Thank you HOMETALK for the challenge
