From Thrift Store Find to Trendy Decor Accessory

This is a super easy spray paint upcycle project. I found a pineapple night light in my local charity shop/thrift store and transformed it into a trendy copper metallic decor accessory.

This is the nightlight. I think it cost about £2 (I'm in the UK). If you don't have a pineapple nightlight (because who does!), you could rummage around in your own home or a local thrift store for an item that's shape and size you like but the colour is all wrong.

First thing I did was take the batteries out. Then I gave it a good clean with some baby wipes and let it dry.

Using think coats of copper spray paint I coated all the way around the stems and grooves of the pineapple. I used 3 thin coats all the way around. I didn't spray paint the underside where the on/off switch and battery compartment is. I used Kobra spary paint in Copper.

I left it to dry overnight before touching it to make sure the surface wasn't tacky. If you try to touch or move it before it is completely dry you will end up with fingerprint marks in your lovely copper finish!

I think it looks great now and fits in with my living room decor. I've seen these metallic pineapple ornaments around for a while now but I never felt compelled enough to purchase. I'm very happy with my pocket friendly bargain version!

This is it in its new home on my mantel piece. For more copper spray paint upcycling ideas check out my article 11 Fabulous Upcycle Projects Using Copper Spray Paint.
