Don't trash those outdated lamps! Give your lamps an easy makeover with coastal style! It's a fun home decor DIY! I was originally going to paint the lamps, but then decided they have a washed out neutral look that works well for the coastal decor. Instead, I cleaned them up, changed the lamp shades and made some minor alterations.

I started out by removing the leaves, the berries...

...and the stems. I used wire cutters to remove them. I cut the stems as close to base as possible.

I tied rope around the necks, to get the length.

I added glue to the ends of the rope, so it would not unravel. I used hot glue. You can use a combination of hot glue and a liquid glue.

I bought some small starfish and glued them over the knot.

I glued on sea biscuits to the ends of the rope.

Here it is all finished. After a few minor alterations and it looks like a new lamp! For full directions, materials list and video go to my blogpost https://craftklatchwithmona.blogspot.com/2018/12/garbage-to-gorgeous-23-easy-lamp.html
