Giving an Old Desk Lamp New Life.

We just recently moved my mother in with us. I have been in the process of decorating her room. She needed a desk lamp. Using my slogan "Everything old is new again" I began my search around the house looking for an old lamp that would be suitable for a desk lamp. One day my husband was down in our basement working on the sump pump. He found this old lamp that we had stored down there. He brought it upstairs and said: "I'm sure you can do something with this". I quickly went to work. I wanted to use the colors that are in the comforter and shams. Wow! what a difference a little paint makes. This project cost me $0.00 as I already had everything I needed!!
Here is the lamp in its original, old look. The first thing I did was get an old wire brush and clean off the rust that was beginning to form.
A closer look a the base.
I painted the entire metal stand and base with a purple. As luck would have it the comforter and shams have flowers on it. Around the base, there is a flower design. Using that design I painted the colors that are in the comforter and shams. After the paint dried I used a clear gloss spray to seal it and give it a more brilliant glow.
