As so often happens with my projects, this one found me. I was on a morning walk and saw a 2 ft. piece of fence post laying in the grass. . I thought someone left it there for a purpose, so I walked past it for two more days, then I decided it needed a home. And so my glass bottle challenge began, from the bottom up.
My daughter has started drinking an ice tea that comes in a bottle. I liked the shape of the bottle so started collecting them, removing the label and running them thru the dishwasher. It seemed like a natural step to put these two together for the glass challenge.
First, I sanded the base and trimmed the ends with my “chop” saw. Next, I drilled the holes in which I would rest the glass bottles. This proved to be more involved than I anticipated, as I didn’t have a hole cutter big enough for the width of the bottle. But after much experimenting, a chisel and a hammer, I got the job done. Then I decided to adds some copper craft wire around the neck of the bottle, to disguise the screw on ridges.
Added some of my fall paper flowers, and there you have it my bud vase centerpiece for the glass challenge.
HAPPY CRAFTING EVERYONE!
