Glass Etching Is So Fun

My sister in law was in town and wanted to do a quick craft in an evening. Glass etching was something she never tried before, and it’s so easy and fun. All you need is an image, an LED light box, contact paper, an exacto knife, a piece of glass, a paintbrush, and etching cream. So, first you select an image that you are interested in. She’s a huge NKOTB fan and her husband has a funny sense of humor, so we snagged these images online.
next, we laid them on an LED box and copied them to contact paper.
Then we peeled away the contact paper, put it on the glass, and smoothed our as many lines and air bubbles as possible. Using an exacto knife, we cut away our negative spaces. We then went to the kitchen sink and used paint brushes to brush on the etching cream. I had armor etch at home but I’m not sure if there is a better brand out there. After painting it on, we waited 10 minutes, washed it off, cleaned the glasses with soap and water, then poured wine into the new wine glasses! Here’s the final product:
