I have been on a purge of craft material. I had way too many things! I have created so much already and still have a lot to go through. I wont run out of stuff to make anytime soon!
I'm always looking for tabletop ideas because I make tables with spools. In the past I have used old tabletops, wood circles, plastic/foam, metal charger (platters) and terracotta saucers. Then I saw Hometalker Ann from Michigan and what she used for a tabletop, I thought it was brilliant!
Kudos to you Ann, thanks for the inspiration to make my own :)
I have an old turnplate and a small bag of gems that I collected over the years and I really wanted to use them up in one project.
This took about 3 hours to do because each piece is glued on separately. I added about half a bag of clear/silver in different size gems to fill in the gaps. I think about a 2 lb. bag would work. I used clear loctite. When it drys fully it will be clear and shine bright!
About 2 days to dry fully.
I put the glass top on a small yellow spool out on the porch. It looks so cute!
I put it on a lime green, hot pink, sea blue, white and gold! Other color stands bring out the colored gems. The next one I make will be even more designed. You'll see!
It's perfect for my porch and I love all the color. I'll pour epoxy over it tomorrow and it will be awesome!
I can put this top on any of my spools, any color too and it would look great. Here it is sitting beside my lounge chair! Love it!
You can get a glass turnplate at the thrift store, the gems at the dollar store, the glue from Walmart and use a small trash can, a bucket or a spool and make your own in an afternoon , minus the drying time!
Thanks for looking, would love comments!
