HOW TO CREATE A DIY FABRIC ROOM DIVIDER

My office is a part of my small family room. I have a treadmill desk that has a clamped arm for my laptop. With all the cables and other obstructions, I found it distracting when I am off work and in the family room area. To keep my work life out of mind, I wanted to create a divider. I searched and searched for dividers online where I found several but none that would work with a drop ceiling and as wide as I needed to block my desk. Here’s how I created my DIY fabric room divider.

Wash the fabric and then iron the fabric. Iron on the firming fabric backing then follow instructions for the process of adhering it to the fabric back. Then fold the edges of the fabric over the firming backing and sew a straight line to keep it together.

Use these Ikea hooks and a long dowel the same size of the hole. The clips will hold the fabric.

On the back to cover the edges and seams, using a glue gun and fabric grey ribbon, I covered the edges to clean up the back of the fabric that will be hanging.

This is the final product. Visit the blog post for more details.
