Hi Hometalk! I wanted a planter to match a recent furniture makeover I did and to be honest I just love the quick transformative process of decoupage! This old plastic planter is nice and big it is actually and outside pot bought for a few pounds from a garden centre .
Plastic pot
I begin by gathering the pre cut and bought cotton patterned squares and mod podge matt seal and glue.I begin to spread mod podge along edge and down ready for the cotton squares to nestle into.
Mod podge the pot
I choose patterns that I feel contrast and create a balance of designs and colours.
Spreading mod podge over the top of fabric
I like to coat the surface of fabric as well with mod podge to create a durable and hard finish.
Adding fabric to the pot
I continue around and fill up with more squares and choose vibrant bold colours.
Building up layers of patchwork
I neaten off and cut some squares to fill the gaps and tick the fabric under the base and glue. Then let it dry.
Cutting fabric to fit gaps
And finally my pot is done!it really is a cheery unique talking piece!
