Oh Happy Day ... when you find a quick, easy project that is just a fun one to do!!
Ready? Here we go...

I was cleaning out at a friend's house and found an old framed piece of art that has maybe seen better days.... BUT, it was a great frame.
All I did was grab my Chalkboard Paint and start painting right over the picture.  I wasn't even very neat about it knowing I was going to paint the frame next.

I had some left over turquoise paint. Once it was dry, I added a quick "color-wash" of a darker teal which gave it just a bit more interest.

Here's my color washing tutorial if you want to see how to create a layered-paint look.  It's a fabulous paint finish to learn, and use on pieces that have fun details.... and so easy!
Once everything was completely dry, I "seasoned" the chalkboard.  Seasoning is important because if you skip this step, the first words you write, will be there FOREVER.  Trust me on this.  So rub your chalk over the whole thing, and then just wipe it off with a dry paper towel.  That's all there is to it.
Oh Happy day!

Told you... a quick, easy, fun project!!  Look at thrift stores for these types of framed art, and then create to your heart's content.  These would be great gifts to have in a closet on stand-by OR as a unique piece of home decor.
