Make these simple rope handles and add them to several different projects such as lanterns, trays, baskets, drawers and even a toilet paper holder. They add a nice natural look to your decor.

For these particular rope handles I made them for scrap wood lanterns.

Slide your keyrings into the eye of your screw eyes. Repeat this as needed.

Measure, mark, and drill a small hole a short way into the place you plan to attach your rope handles then screw in the screw eye keyrings. It's helpful to use needle nose pliers for this.

Choose the length of your rope. Make sure the rope is long enough that you can fold it over the keyrings and use it for a handle. I suggest cutting the rope longer than needed and then trimming it later.

Thread the end of the rope through one key ring. Fold the end of the rope over about 1 - 1 1/2 inches. Use mini clamps to hold the fold in place. Start wrapping jute as close to the keyring as possible.

Apply glue to hold jute in place if needed. Continue wrapping and applying glue. When you are happy with the amount wrapped and you feel it will hold in place, cut the jute and glue the end down.

I made these rope handles for my Simple DIY Wood Lanterns. This Flip Flop Bin shows you a different way to make rope handles.
