How to Repurpose Antique Rockers Into a Funky Floor Lamp

What do you do when you have a pile of antique rocking chair rockers? You make a floor lamp, of course. When I found two sets of antique rockers at a garage sale, I snatched them up knowing they would come in handy. When my husband kept asking for another floor lamp, I knew I could create one from my stash. Did he love it? Come on over and see.
Would you have grabbed up these sets of antique rockers for $1? Being that I love to repurpose and work on furniture, I knew these would come in handy.
When I first brought the rockers home, I kept envisioning a table made with these as legs, but I found that they were a bit too brittle to carry heavy weight. It wasn't until my husband kept dragging my living room lamp down to our family room so he could have another floor lamp that I knew what I needed to do. NO store-bought lamps for us!
All I needed was to add a lamp post, and my stash of antique table legs proved to be profitable yet again. It pays to hoard! :)
After marrying the base with the post using a broken broom handle and barn wood, I am ready to add the electric.
Once the wiring was done, all it needed was a thrifted lampshade recovered with a scrap of cutwork curtain. I couldn't put a brand new shade on a funky lamp like this, that wouldn't do.
I had the lamp turned on when my husband came home from work, and my 6 kids and I waited to see if he loved it or would cringe at the sight. Can you guess what he did? Come on over to the blog to see.
