How To Transform A Thrift Store Candelabra

If you enjoy repurposing objects that you already have in your home, you can use other methods besides paint. I'm sharing a favorite method of mine today on Hometalk.
This candelabra was a thrift store find and has been much loved over the years! When I found the piece years ago it had a rusty and dull finish and I've sprayed it several times as my mood and the seasons change. It was ready for something more elegant!
I decided to give them a gold leaf finish and this method is really fast and easy for anyone to do. You need several sheets of gold leaf for a project of this size, and some Mod Podge or white school glue.
Just brush on the Mod Podge and pick up the sheet of gold leaf and apply by hand. Allow just a few minutes until tacky and then burnish with your finger. I have some additional tips on my blog and will link it below.
You will want to give the candelabra (or whatever piece you apply leaf to) a quick coat of spray sealer.
Here is the finished candelabra and it surely makes for an expensive looking piece for your dining table or buffet! Leafing also comes in other colors and I have a source list and more details on the Shabbyfufu blog.
