If you love yard sales and thrift shops as I do, you'll often find pieces of vintage (or new) pottery that have some damage but are still beautiful. Find a new function by doing some flower arranging for your home!
I found this vintage ironstone soup tureen at a yard sale and it was marked down to $1 because of the broken handles that the seller plopped inside. I brought it home and glued the handles back on, but knew that it had to be used for display only.
Old tureens, tea cups and vintage bowls are perfect for flower display, and I had a mix of fresh grocery flowers and some of last week's florals that were starting to droop. Perfect to mix together!
I took some used floral foam that had been holding only fake flowers before and cut them to size to fit the tureen with a serated bread knife. That's a great way to cut floral foam! When it was all cut to size I added some water to soak the foam so that the flowers would stay fresh for a few days.
Then I began adding my flowers to the middle of the pot, eyeing them and cutting down to the correct size to stagger. Once the flowers were all placed I added filler greenery until it looked nice and full.
