Finding the right jar for this project was my biggest challenge. After several weeks of shopping every thrift shop at least once a week until I happened on this at the Salvation Army. A little luck that day was the day they had "everything at 1/2 off". My inspiration came from Pinterest, however, as usual without any instructions.
This project will be using my "Mom Podge" and black Gesso recipes presented on another of my projects - link noted below. Using a white tissue paper and scrunching it up as I applied the Mom Podge to create texture on both the jar and the lid.
Once the Mom Podge is dry (with a little help from my heat gun) I painted the entire jar and lid with black gesso. I might just add a note that when I want a colored gesso, I always use the powered marble as the black acrylic paint uses far less paint to get the true black.
Adding the bronze metallic craft paint with a gloved finger, I have found is the best method (rather than a brush). It allows me to control the amount and the area to be highlighted.
Once highlighted I'm able to hot glue the zipper in place
And finally, the coffee beans are hot glued in the open zipper area as well as a small pile on the lid.
