Just Messing Around

So I had some free time this past weekend and have had an idea running around in my head, scary I know, and thought I would try it out! Sometimes things are trial and error and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't!
This is what I started with! Yes, doing this outside, safety first with a torch! The metal sign is metal and I wanted to get a burned effect without using the actual sign.
Hard to see but the flame is there!
This is after burning the wood heart.
You can make out the burn, it wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be. I don't know if it is the type of wood or? Will have to experiment with that some more.
I grabbed my favorite stain medium, Unicorn SPiT. The one I am using is from a limited release of Sparkle Unicorn SPiT. It's not on the market yet but I am told that Eclectic products is looking into the certifications and the manufacturing of it! I also grabbed my blending tool, antibacterial wipes! These are great for blending in the stain.
No real science to this part, which I love! Just squirt it on and spread and blend it with your wipe.
Once the stain was on I wasn't too thrilled with the burning not standing out as much as I wanted it to. Will have to work some more on that technique. But DIY is do it yourself and try :)
I decided to just attach the actual metal piece to it and I think it came out pretty well! My husband loved it and it was a gift for him so that is all that counts! Thank you for reading my post!
