Every Christmas Eve I host an open house. This will be my first Christmas in my new home and I want it to be picture perfect.
I love paper luminaries and decided to use what I have on hand to make them for my walkway.
Paper lunch bags, a magnetic punch, and a few battery operated tea lights is all you need. I also used a large cookie sheet to catch my "confetti".
This is a Martha Stewart magnetic punch. It allows you to punch anywhere on your paper. The pieces fit snugly together, lining up perfectly because of the magnets.
Place the bottom plate underneath the bag and the top piece over it. When the magnets meet, the punch will be properly lined up. Press down on the punch.
This is what it will look like. The bags are thin enough that the punch goes easily through the paper.
I chose to make an all-over pattern. When the bag is opened, there will be stars punched out on the sides also.
As an extra bonus, I save all of the stars that were punched out to use in future projects!
I got a ton of these cheap on Amazon last year. They work really well.
This is my luminarie all lit up. On the night of my party, I will fill the bottom with sand to keep them from falling over or blowing away.

It's nice! Are you gonna make several of these to create a path? It will be magical! Think it would also look very nice in the stairs!
