Supplies
Measure the height and circumference of the jar. I wanted the metal to end right above the curved part of the top of the jar. The metal needs to overlap around 3/4 to 1" around.
Use the tin snips to cut the metal. Be careful, the cut metal edges can be sharp.
Use the jar lid as a pattern to cut out the "frog" insert. Be sure to center the design. You want to have a hole exactly in the center for easier floral arranging.
Put the "frog" into the lid. Trim if necessary if it is too tight.
Fit the metal around the jar, mark the holes, and punch with the metal hole punch. Use the corner rounder to remove the sharp corners if desired.
Push the brads into the holes and open up the prongs to secure into place. If one of the prongs extends past the metal, cut it off with the tin snips.
The holes in the jar lid helps to keep the stems in place as you arrange the silk flowers.
The jar can be used for a simple floral arrangement with either fresh or silk flowers. It would make a great hostess gift! The jar, since it has a perforated top, could also be used to hold potpourri for a bathroom or small space.
