Mason Jar Light Pendant
I spotted these awesome mason jar light pendants on the Pottery Barn website and then started spotting them on other sites like Ebay and Etsy. I've wanted to replace the horrible florescent tubing light fixture that was placed above our kitchen sink with something more unique, yet casual. I remembered that I had purchased a small lot of old, blue mason jars at an auction once. My husband was convinced that he could save me the $65-$100 that these mason jar light pendants can cost, so we started plotting on how we could create one of these adorable light fixtures ourselves. These are really getting popular. I see: HEAT- CURTAINS= FIRE UL approved testing was done for a reason..... SAFETY I really like the idea but you have the perfect condition there to burn your house down. Others will see this and think it's ok and maybe not know you don't leave it on long or have a small wattage bulb. Canning jars aren't tempered glass although they are boiled, it's not the heat that a bulb could reach if not vented properly. A rather dangerous project without pointing out the needed safety precautions. I do know someone who stored their oil paints in a cabinet over their dryer. They ALWAYS PUT THE LIDS ON TIGHT.. How could that paint have run or that thinner drip? They have a new house now but did loose their dog in the fire. Some are comfortable living on the edge. WOW!
