Memorial Day Ideas

Rescued Furnishings

I was featured on the local station last week and part of my bit was about easy ideas that I wanted to share with all of you!
The first thing I wanted to do was paint mason jars! I had some laying around or you can pick them up for super cheap almost anywhere these days. I dipped one in blue paint and then waited for it to dry.
The other two I taped off in stripes and painted with red. I removed the tape and painted with white. Once the blue jar was dry, I hand painted white stars on it. These three look super cute lined up (like a flag) to display plastic ware or for candles.
Before we go much further....here are all my cute ideas in one!
So what were those logs....well it is this...just a log! But if you use a 1.5" paddle bit and drill a hole in the top you have a candle holder.
Obviously, you need to paint these bad boys and I couldn't resist using metallic on the top.
See...Super cute!
Next up...Grab another log and cut some tree slices. Paint and seal! You have super cute personalized coasters.
You could even do a whole set and and wrap in a ribbon for a hostess gift!
These wine glasses may be my favorite. I used General Finishes Acrylic Paint and dotted the blue one and dipped the red one. These can cure in the air over a few weeks or you can speed that process up by heating them in the oven.
This was my spot on the news!
If you noticed that Pepsi Cola tray...I use it all the time! I put a piece of burlap in it and stick my napkins in it and everyone loves it! Follow us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/stl.rescuedfurnishings or our blog at http://www.rescuedfurnishings.com for more great ideas!

What paint did you use for the blue? Could be the picture, but that blue looks like it's a bold, bright blue especially on the log slices!!
