It’s spring cleaning in our city, that means it is time to trim the trees, again! Couldn’t pass up these mesquite tree trimmings to make a cute, Miss Mesquite Piggy! Especially when the supplies are free!

Supplies needed:

Mesquite, or any tree, trimmings

Hot glue

Wood glue (not pictured)

Wiggly eyes

Black Acrylic Paint (not pictured)

Brown Pipe cleaner

Drill (not pictured)

¼ inch drill bit (not pictured)

Pink jute twine (not pictured)

Saw (not pictured)

Step 1: Cut one, three inch tree trimming by 1 ¾ inch diameter (approximately) for the body. I cut one of the sides slanted to attach the head later.

Step 2: Cut four, two inch long trimmings by ¾ inch diameter (approximately) for legs. Drill four ¼ inch holes for the legs. I used wood glue to attach the legs to the body.

Step 3: Cut one, three inch trimming by ¾ inch diameter (approximately) for the head. I attached it to the body with hot glue.

Step 4: Cut one, ¾ inch trimming by ¼ inch in diameter (approximately) for the snout. Then, hot glue it to the bottom of the head.

Step 5: I decided to paint the wiggly eyes all black. I then attached them to the head with hot glue.

Step 6: Cut two, ¾ inch trimmings by ⅛ inch in diameter (approximately) to use for ears. I hot glued them to the back of the head.

Step 7: For the last step, I cut a 1 1/2" brown pipe cleaner to use for the tail. I curled the pipe cleaner and attached it to the back of the body with hot glue.

Step 8: I dotted two small black circles on top of the snout. And, of course, Miss Mesquite Piggy couldn’t be without a head bow! So, I made her a very simple bow with pink jute twine. And this is what the final product looks like!
