Hello. This is my first project posted here. So please forgive me...but I just had to share. My door hanger. My daughter gave me an old plastic sun clock, the glass front was missing. It's been sitting a while waiting for me to figure out what I want to do with it. My best friend found what I call hen n chicks in her flower bed when they moved into their new place. She gave me a few. I decided I wanted something different on my front door unlike a wreath plus spring is almost here YEA!! So. Here is my clock upcycle into a planter door hanger.
First I removed the screws on the back that would hold the glass. And took off the clock component
Tiny screws taken out. Front face removed. Clock component removed
Then drilled holes in the bottom for drainage..
I had a coco replacement basket I bought on clearance last year and cut it a bit larger than the ring that was screwed on that use to hold the glass in. I had some pebbles and stones left over from another project
Layed the stones and pebbles in where I thought they may need to be and covered the area with felt to help keep the potting soil from blocking the holes
Tiny piece of felt I had from another project under the rocks
Cut and pressed the coco basket into the ring and around the screw holes
Front look of the coco press3d into the ring
These poor babies needed a new life and home. I replaced the front ring screwed it back together just as it was. It's holding in place well.

What a unique idea, Karen, looks great. Just hope you saved the hands and face of the clock - you will find something to do with them later. I buy old broken clocks just for these items. Trust me.

Thank you.. I didn't save the face. There wasn't a glass face/cover. And the part with numbers was a thick piece of vinyl or something glued inside. The tiny hands were like little arrows and bent. I did keep them for another project. (maybe 1 day I will use them)

WOW! Karen, I never would have thought of doing something like that, and it looks terrific! So glad you are posting projects. I can't wait to see what you come up with and pick your brain (eww THAT sounds disgusting doesn't it? LOL but you know what I mean) ;)
