New Life To Outdated Thrift Shop Items

What happens when 40 bloggers swap thrifted goods? It could be magic or a disaster!
You are going to love this Swap It Like Its Hot series...
These simple updates to commonly found thrift shop items goes to show that with a little paint, and some creativity, outdated items can get a whole new contemporary style!
The below makeovers are an example of how just a little paint (and a few minutes) can make a huge difference!
Just because it looks outdated, or doesn't match your current decor doesn't mean it can't in a couple simple steps! My favorite go-to is Krylon Maxx spray paint for a quick update!
We often find plain glass vases at thrift stores, and bamboo trays seem to be a dime a dozen. These place card holders were a bit of a unique find, but could still use a little glam to help jazz them up. Over-all, these are your average boring pieces that don't lend a whole lot to the decor of a space.
The place card holders became a gorgeous set of multi-colored card holders after a couple coats of spray paint! This is a great way to show off a lovely collection of your cards sent to you, or pictures of the family!
Bring on the wow factor to all those glass vases by spray painting with gold, then adding some liquid gold leaf painted on top of that. It brings out the shimmer and reflective quality without using up all your liquid gold leaf. ;)
Old bamboo trays can be beautifully updated to a contemporary style using color blocking techniques! Spray paint one side in the color of choice, then when dry spray the other side for a "dipped" look.
Use these trays as normal, or hang them on the wall as textured art!

D'oh! and there I was putting my old vases into the Op Shop down the road. Hmmm I think I might have a few left in the back of the cupboard!
